MRI – Safety
Safety in MRI is of upmost importance due to the potential severity of accidents or injuries. To protect patients and employees, safety policies and procedures must be implemented. The following are some of the critical components of MRI safety:
- Designation and posting of MRI zone areas
- Controlling access to MRI area
- MRI safety training of personnel
- Labelling portable metallic equipment
- Screening patients and staff members
Included in our physics evaluation, we provide assistance in safe operation, assess MRI zone areas, and offer MRI zone signs for posting. The FDA has a nice poster on MRI Burn Prevention and it is available here.
