On New Years Day, 2012, the MIPPA law took effect. It became mandatory for private offices and outpatient imaging centers who wish to invoice CMS for CT, MRI, PET and/or SPECT services to be accredited. The majority of our hospital and medical center clientele has embraced the inevitability for their accreditation and have also started that process. We provide support for all ACR modalities and any other accrediting bodies who require Medical Physicist support (such as annual Medical Physics testing of ICACTL CT scanners). We have four Medical Physicists who comply with the ACR criteria (and thus satisfy CMS/MIPPA requirements) as Qualified Medical Physicists. We currently support accreditation for CT, MRI, SPECT (and Planar NM), PET, Breast MRI, Breast Ultrasound, Mammography, Stereotactic Breast Biopsy, Ultrasound and Radiation Oncology (the testing of diagnostic-type equipment associated with Rad Onc such as CT Sim and orthogonal XR).
